Building teams, cutting risk, and transforming how healthcare organisations operate.

At Dignity Health — across two separate engagements spanning six years — the challenge was always the same: a complex, siloed organisation that needed both strategic leadership and hands-on delivery. The outcomes speak for themselves. So do the people who saw it happen.

What was needed
A newly transitioned department with no established processes, no performance framework, and physical security systems for 1,900 hospitals, clinics, and offices across 28 states — all needing to be brought under strategic control within the first 90 days.
What I did
Built the team, defined the strategy, and created measurable performance and risk indicators from scratch. Developed business plans targeting operational gaps and risks. Launched an Agile transformation across two teams, establishing Jira-based work management, training users, and creating a self-serve model suited to the resource constraints of the environment.
What it meant
  • 35% reduction in operational costs and 48% decrease in risk exposure through targeted business planning
  • A defined go-to strategy for physical security systems across the entire estate
  • Agile transformation delivered for two teams — with documentation, processes, and governance built to run without me
  • Organisation positioned to continue its transformation journey independently

What colleagues said

“TJ provided a working compass when we couldn’t find North, an easy to follow map, and instructions for following the map. He rolled up his sleeves, got to know the team, identified the gaps, and was effective from the start.”
Michael Frazier — System Director, Endpoint Security, Dignity Health
“Starting with limited resources and no clear organisational alignment, TJ made very real progress in the move towards a more Agile environment. He blended flexibility where needed with clear guidelines and boundaries — placing the organisation in a position of strength to continue its Agile transformation journey.”
Abhishek Sen — Director, Transformation & Portfolio Office, Dignity Health
“TJ showed leadership, was organised, detail oriented when needed, forward thinking, and was never afraid to roll up his sleeves. He has a drive for agile thinking but more importantly a passion to achieve desired outcomes.”
Kimberly Berdysz — System Director, Organisational Change Management, Dignity Health

Cybersecurity Business Analyst → Project Manager

Apr 2017 – Mar 2020

The full picture

What was needed
A DevOps team struggling to deliver against programme timelines needed to be brought back on track. Separately, the newly formed CommonSpirit Health needed a plan to integrate two cybersecurity departments and their technologies following the merger of Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives.
What I did
Introduced Agile practices to improve transparency and resource utilisation, returning a stalled project to delivery within two months. Established a state-of-the-art cybersecurity lab to evaluate new tools and simulate incidents risk-free. Drafted the charter and recommended methodology for the CommonSpirit integration programme, then led resourcing and capital estimation for 63 projects.
What it meant
  • Stalled project recovered and all in-scope value delivered against a hard end-date — within two months
  • A cybersecurity lab created enabling safe, controlled risk evaluation and incident simulation
  • Foundation laid for the integration of two cybersecurity organisations into a single unified team for CommonSpirit Health
  • Promoted from Business Analyst to Project Manager based on demonstrated performance

“If your organisation is navigating complexity, managing risk, or building something that needs to last beyond the engagement — let’s talk.”
